Every host who runs anything with guests keeps one. Not written down, usually. Just a set of names that come to mind when a slot opens or when another host says "know anyone good on this?"

Being on it has almost nothing to do with how well you performed.

You've been good for an hour. Real conversation, useful stuff, the host is clearly enjoying it.

Then: "So where can people find you?"

A host opens a pitch while doing four other things. They have a show to fill and limited time. And the question in their head is not "is this person qualified?" It's "can I picture this episode, and will my audience care about it?"

The trouble with counting bookings is that a booking isn't a result. It's the start of two separate blocks of work, one of which lands at a completely unpredictable time months later. And that second block is where the entire return lives.

All three run on the same underlying requirement. So rather than ranking them, here's what each one is actually good at.

Three things are true at once in that window, and they're never true together again:

The host just spent an hour enjoying your company and thinks well of you right now, specifically. Their audience, if the episode is live, is at peak curiosity about you. And you still remember exactly what you said, which matters more than it sounds like it should.
